Tiles have never gone out of fashion - whether they're used as splashbacks in kitchens, wall decoration in bathrooms or for flooring - and nowadays there is such a huge selection of designs and patterns it's hard to know what to choose. You can emulate more expensive materials such as marble and still stay within your budget, and get creative with all the unusual colours, patterns and shapes available. Here's a few of our favourites to inspire you in your next design project!
Hexagonal tiles are great for small mosaic features but can be introduced in larger sizes as a statement. Use a single colour to focus on the shape or combine multiple colours to create your own pattern.
Elongated hexagonal tiles are a twist on the classic chevron, and again a great way to add an point of interest to plain rectangular shapes.
Fish scale/fan/scallop tiles - no matter what you call them, they are perfect for that water-inspired bathroom. Why not lay them in a slightly different way to give a more subtle pattern?
Chevron tiles are classic and timeless, so why not make the most of them? There are so many different ways to lay them to create unusual patterns, so don't dismiss them.
While a lot of the tiles available can be used on both walls and floors (always check the slip rating to check how suitable they are), don't forget about your patio! Alongside the standard stone paving and composite or timber decking, you can also choose patterned tiles for your exterior space.
